Oklahoma Education Association

The Oklahoma Education Association is the Oklahoma affiliate of the National Education Association. It was founded in 1889 and has about 40,000 members.

It is sponsoring the Oklahoma HOPE Ballot Initiative, headed for the 2010 ballot in Oklahoma.

Leadership

In June 2009, OEA membership elected Becky Felts as President and Linda Hampton as Vice President. Felts served on the Oklahoma Commission for Teacher Preparation for two years and Hampton served on the National Education Association Board of Directors for six years. Each will serve the OEA board for a three-year term, is eligible to run for a second term.[1]
