Oklahoma Turnpike Operation, State Question 359 (January 1954)
The Oklahoma Turnpike Operation Referendum, also known as State Question 359, was on the January 26, 1954 ballot in Oklahoma as a veto referendum, where it was approved. The measure approved Senate Bill 454 (SB 454), which related to the construction, operation and maintenance of Oklahoma portions of toll turnpikes from Tulsa to Joplin, Missouri; Oklahoma City to Wichita, Kansas; and Oklahoma City to Wichita Falls, Texas. SB 454 also provided for the correction of typographical errors, wages and contracts and required repayment to the State Highway Commission for the cost of engineering services.
