Initiative Fair Play
Some Oklahoma citizens are crying out at the inconsistent application of residency laws during petition drives.[1] While Attorney General Drew Edmundson allowed for out-of-state circulators to defeat cockfighting but is bringing an indictment against the Oklahoma 3 for out-of-state circulators.[2]
Pay-per-Signature targeted in Oklahoma
Oklahoma Democratic Rep. Mike Shelton is planning to file a bill that would make it illegal for paid circulators to be paid by the signature. According to a recent article, he said paying signature collectors a "fair” hourly rate would eliminate much of the "misinformation, rhetoric and coercion tactics" collectors now use to encourage people to sign the petitions.[3]
