Oklahomans for Initiative Rights
Free Paul Jacob
OIR was critical of Oklahoma Attorney General Drew Edmondson's prosecution of Paul Jacob and the Oklahoma 3 for alleged violations of the state's petitioning laws. Those charges were dropped in January of 2009.
Let Oklahoma Vote
In April of 2009 OIR began its "Let Oklahoma Vote" statewide tour to build grassroots support for reforming Oklahoma's initiative process. The tour supports OK House Bill 2246, which would expand the circulation period to collect petition signatures from 90 days to one year, and move challenges to the ballot title to before the signatures are collected. Only three initiatives have qualified for the Oklahoma ballot in the last ten years.
