New Hampshire held a special election Tuesday, May 17, to fill a vacancy in Hillsborough District 4 of the New Hampshire House of Representatives. The vacancy was created when Robert Mead (R) resigned to accept a position as Chief of Staff for House Speaker William O'Brien.[1] Former Representative Jennifer Daler (D) and Republican Peter Kucmas both vied for the seat. Ultimately, Daler defeated Kucmas by a 1,401-1,007 margin, holding majorities in each of the five towns participating in the election.[2]
Partisan impact
Since Daler replaced Republican Robert Mead, her victory means that Democrats will pick up an additional seat in the House.
