Orie's fraud saga continues
August 31, 2011
Harrisburg, PA: State Senator Jane Orie was arrested again earlier this week, charged with 16 counts including felony perjury, tampering with evidence, forgery, and obstruction. The arrest comes five months after court proceedings for previous charges ended in mistrial.
The controversy began back in April 2010 when an Allegheny County grand jury accused Orie of misuse of her office and staff for political campaigns on state time. This latest round of charges indicate that Orie is the person responsible for doctoring the documents that led to her mistrial. She was arraigned and released, and a preliminary hearing is scheduled for September 7, 2011.
