Oswego School District Sales Tax Question (April 2013)
This question would authorize the Oswego School District to impose a sales tax which could alleviate some of the property tax burden of the district residents. The option for this tax is made possible because of the large number of children who attend Oswego School District schools in the County of Madison. Dr. Mathew Wendt, concerning this possibility, said, "If a school district in a county has more than 50 percent of the students served in that county, that board of education can make the decision to move for a referendum of the people." Several other districts in southern counties of Illinois have already successfully approved such sales taxes.
Review this page later in the year for updates about this question throughout the year.
