Rooney is the Managing Director/President for Rooney's Public House and Rooney's All In Sports Bar, as well as President of the Palm Beach Kennel Club. Rooney was a governing board member for South Florida Water Management District and Director and Co-Chair of Rooney's Golf Foundation, Inc., that raises money for local charities. He also served as Director of the Autism Project of Palm Beach County and Vice President of the Renaissance Learning Academy. Additionally, Rooney is a trustee of three local Chambers of Commberce and Director and Board President of the FAU Honors College.
He holds a B.A. in Political Science from Clemson University and earned his J.D. from Villanova University School of Law and his M.B.A. from Lehigh University. Rooney and his wife, Patti, have four children.

Rooney won election in the 2012 election for Florida House of Representatives District 85. Rooney ran unopposed in the Republican primary on August 14, 2012, and defeated David Lutrin (D) in the general election which took place on November 6, 2012. [1]
