Kotze-Ramos ran in the 2012 election for California State Assembly District 58. She advanced past the blanket primary on June 5, 2012, defeating Tom Calderon (D), Daniel Crespo (D), Luis Marquez (D), and Sultan Ahmad (D). Kotze-Ramos was defeated by Cristina Garcia (D) in the general election on November 6, 2012.[2][3]
