He also ran on the Conservative Party and Independence Party of New York State tickets. Gallivan was unchallenged in the general election which took place on November 6, 2012. [1][2]

Gallivan ran in the 2010 election for New York State Senate District 59. He defeated David DiPietro and James Daomagalski in the September 14 Republican primary. Because Daomagalski and DiPietro ran unopposed in their minor party primaries, they still advanced to the general election despite losing the Republican primary. Gallivan defeated Cynthia Appleton (D), James Daomagalski (Independence), and David DiPietro (Tea Party) in the general election on November 2.[3]
