There was a Payson School District Budget Override measure on the March 9 ballot in Gila County for voters in the town of Payson.

This measure was approved

  • YES 3,954 (67.57%)Approveda
  • NO 1,897 (32.43%)[1]

This measure sought to allow the school district to go over the state set limit by approximately $1.7 million. Since it was approved, this will increase district property taxes by about $11.21 per $100,000 of assessed property value a year. Payson school district officials warned that if the override was not approved further cuts to school programs and job would have been needed in order to cover the costs of the shortfalls.[2]
