She was previously a Republican member of the North Carolina House of Representatives. She represented District 110 from 2009-2011.
Floyd received her Bachelor of Science degree and advanced degree from, respectively, the University of North Carolina-Chapel Hill and the University of North Carolina-Chapel Hill School of Medicine. She is a cytologist. She has one child, Jessica.
Floyd was defeated in the May 4, 2010 primary by Kelly Hastings and once again in 2012.[1]

Floyd ran for re-election to the 110th District Seat in 2010. She was defeated in the primary by Kelly Hastings. [4] Floyd was seeking her second term.
