Pennsylvania state senator enters race for state attorney general
The current attorney general, Linda Kelly, was appointed by Gov. Tom Corbett in February 2011, after Corbett himself vacated the office to assume the governorship. Following a long-standing tradition for mid-term appointees, Kelly agreed, when she was appointed, not to run for re-election in 2012.
Rafferty earned his JD from Temple Law School in 1988 and worked in the state attorney general's office for 3 years. He entered private practice in 1991 and continues to practice law when the senate is not in session. If elected, Rafferty has said he would vigorously fight crime and use the grand jury system to prosecute cases involving sexual abuse of children, political corruption and Meidcaid fraud."
