Perry County Road Districting Question (November 2010)
This measure was approved
- YES 5,097 (70.59%)
- NO 2,124 (29.41%)
This was an advisory question which asked county residents if they wanted the count to ask the State General Assembly to change the road districting from the current Unit Road District system to one which allows for multiple districts. In 2004 a vote was held to consolidate the road districts, this measure sought to undo that previous vote. Some residents noted that it was cheaper under the current system of one district, there were less employees to pay but others stated that labor would still be distributed to the different areas so the costs would be the same. Proponents also noted that going back to the previous system gives residents more control over their roads and who runs them.
