Education
Peter Buckley earned his BFA in Theater Arts from the University of Santa Clara in 1979.
Professional Experience
Peter Buckley began his professional experience in 1979 as a freelance director, actor, and writer at various theaters and under different publications. He worked in that fashion until 1985, when he began working for Ferndale Repertory Theater as an artistic director until 1989. Starting in 1991, he was an administrator for Dell'Arte International, and his service lasted until 2003. In 1987, Buckley began working as a radio commentator for KHSU Radio until 1997, when he worked the same position for Jefferson Public Radio until 2002. In 2003, Buckley worked as an executive director for Democracy's Edge until 2005. In 2006 he became a consultant for Buckley Communications Strategies.
Political Experience
Peter Buckley began his candidacy for the United States House of Representatives under Oregon, District 2, in 2002. In 2005, he became a representative within the Oregon House of Representatives and continues to serve in the regard. From 2003 to 2004 Buckley served as the campaign director for the Jackson County Democratic Party and from 2007 to 2008 he served as the House Majority Whip for the Oregon House of Representatives. From 2011 to 2012, he served as Co-House Speaker Pro Tempore. In the 2013 session, Buckley serves as Assistant Majority Leader on politics.

Buckley won re-election in the 2012 election for Oregon House of Representatives District 5. Buckley was unopposed in the May 15 Democratic primary and defeated Sandra Abercrombie (R) in the general election which took place on November 6, 2012.[1][2]

Buckley won re-election to the 5th District Seat in 2010. He had no primary opposition, and was challenged by Sandra Abercrombie (R) in the general election which took place on November 2, 2010.[3]
