MacGregor won re-election in the 2012 election for Michigan House of Representatives District 73. He was unopposed in the August 7 Republican primary and defeated Scott Schuiling (D), Ron Heeren (L) and Ted Gerrard (I) in the general election which took place on November 6, 2012.[2]

MacGregor won election to the District 73 Seat in 2010. He defeated Bob Becker, Bruce Hawley, Jeanine Herlacher, Paul Hibbard, Steve Jazwiec, Tim Nelson, Tom Norton and Dennis Smith in the August 3 Republican primary. He faced Jerrod Roberts (D) in the general election on November 2, 2010.
