Petoskey School District Bond Measure (May 2012)

May 8, 2012 ballot in the Petoskey school district area which is in Charlevoix and Emmet Counties.
This measure was approved
- YES 1,477 (68.41%)
- NO 682 (31.59%)[1]
This measure sought to issue a bond in the amount of $4.93 million in order to help pay for buy an install new technology throughout the district as well as make general facility improvements as needed.[2] Since it was approved, a levy addition will be implemented at a rate of $.40 per $1,000 of assessed value for the life of the bond. School officials noted that the district needs new and upgraded technology in order to keep the schools competing with others and allow for students to get the education they need. The last bond in the district was asked for in 1990.[3]

| Shall Public Schools of Petoskey, Emmet and Charlevoix Counties, Michigan, borrow the sum of not to exceed Four Million Nine Hundred Thirty Thousand ($4,930,000) and issue its general obligation unlimited tax bonds therefore, for the purpose of: acquiring and installing educational technology improvements in school district buildings, including related remodeling, equipment, wiring, and infrastructure improvements? |
