Pike County Concealed Weapon Ordinance (March 2012)
A Pike County Concealed Weapon Ordinance measure was on the March 20, 2012 ballot in Pike County.
This measure was approved
- YES 3,214 (85.39%)
- NO 550 (14.61%)[1]
This measure sought to make it legal to carry a gun in the county. A resident of Pittsfield had successfully spearheaded a petition drive to get this issue onto the ballot after frustration that gun carry laws were not being dealt with on the state level. Though even if the measure does get approved the State Court will likely still have to rule on the validity of the measure. Fourty-nine states have some sort of gun carry law but Illinois is the only state to not allow conceal carry in the country.[2]
