Pinellas County School Levy Renewal (November 2012)
This measure renewed the current county levy set at a rate of $.50 per $1,000 of assessed value which goes towards the county schools. The money generated from this levy goes towards paying teacher salaries and school programs throughout the county. If this measure is not approved, the levy would expire in 2013. How the money is spent is watched over by a public committee and proponents of the levy hope this transparency will help the levy get renewed again as residents see what the schools have used the funds for.
