Pinellas County School Levy Renewal (November 2012)

A Pinellas County School Levy Renewal measure will likely be on the November 6, 2012 ballot in Pinellas County, where it was approved.

This measure renewed the current county levy set at a rate of $.50 per $1,000 of assessed value which goes towards the county schools. The money generated from this levy goes towards paying teacher salaries and school programs throughout the county. If this measure is not approved, the levy would expire in 2013. Shall the Pinellas County School District ad valorem millage of one-half mill per year be continued beginning July 1, 2013 and ending four fiscal years later on June 30, 2017, for necessary operating expenses including funds to recruit and retain quality teachers; preserve reading programs and music and art classes; and provide up-to-date textbooks and technology, with oversight of these expenditures by an independent citizens financial oversight committee?
