Platte County Sales Tax Measure, 2009
The Platte County Sales Tax Measure was on the August 4, 2009 in Platte County for county voters. The measure called for extending a half-cent sales tax for the Platte County parks. The measure was approved.[1]
The current tax, approved in 2000, was scheduled to expire in 2010 and since its inception has paid for two community center, new parks and various trails. In 2008, the tax generated approximately $6.5 million. The proposed measure is expected to generate about $76 million over a 10 year period. The measure was opposed by local Republican and Democratic parties because they said the tax was too high.[2]
