Polk County Property Tax Exemption Question (November 2012)
A Polk County Property Tax Exemption Question will be on the November 6, 2012 ballot in Polk County, where it was approved.
This measure sought to allow for property tax exemptions for new or expending businesses in the county for up to ten years. Counties and municipalities nearby have this system in place so Polk county sees this as a way to stay competitive with neighbors. The county had tried to pass this measure twice before but both attempts failed. Both times the campaigning for the measure was done privately so this time the county is looking to invest $25,000 to help educate voters about the measure and the benefits it would bring to the county.[1]
