KNOXVILLE, Tennessee: Early voting began for the Knoxville primary and a special election to fill Tennsessee's 6th District Senate seat on September 7. It was reportedly off to a slower than average start.[1]

As of the weekend, four days after polls opened, 2,421 people cast their ballots. It is expected that voter turnout will not exceed 30,000 of the 191,000 eligible voters in the region (15.7%). As of the first day of voting, 676 citizens cast their ballot, 20% less than was expected. Early voting will continue up until the 22nd of September.[1]
