Port Districts Seeking to Eliminate Commissioners (November 2009)
The measure was defeated.
The following port districts would have passed a measure to eliminate the division of their district into separate parts in order to make it one unified district where the commissioners elected for that district do not have to come form a specific area of that district.
Port district #5 is split into three separate areas, they will return it back to one, but keep the same number of commissioners needed.
Port district #7 is also split into three separate areas and will also be returned back to one unified district but will also keep the three commissioner offices.
The ballot read:
"Shall Grant County Port District No. 5 which is currently divided into three (3) separate commissioner districts, cease using the three (3) commissioner districts so as to permit the election of three (3) commissioners At Large, from anywhere within the district boundaries?"
