A Portage Township Fire & Ambulance Tax Levy proposal was approved on the May 7, 2013, election ballot in Mackinac County, which is in Michigan.

This measure authorized the Township of Portage to increase and renew its property taxes at a rate of 2 mills ($2 per $1,000 of assessed valuation) for 2 years. The estimated first year revenue from this tax is $139,884.[1]

Text of measure

Language on the ballot:

Shall the expired previous voted increase in the tax limitation, imposed under Article 1X, Sec. 6 of the Michigan Constitution in Portage Township, of 2 mills (1 1/2 for ambulance, 1/2 for fire) ($2.00 per $1,000 of taxable value), reduced to 1.4944 mills (ambulance) and .4981 mills (fire) $1.4944 per $1,000 of taxable value for ambulance and .4981 per $1,000 of taxable value for fire) by th required millage rollbacks, be renewed at and increased up to the original voted 2 mills ($2.00 per $1,000 of taxable value) and levied for two years, 2013 through 2014 inclusive, for the purpose of operation of the Portage Township fire and ambulance services, raising an estimated $139,884 in 2013, the first year the millage is levied.[1][2]
