CHEYENNE, Wyoming: The Wyoming Democratic Central Committee has announced that it will be collecting signatures for a referendum on House Bill 79, known as the "Collection of Unpaid Wages" bill. The bill changed the definition of unpaid wages employees are allowed to claim so that it exluded the value of vacation time accrued at the time of an employee’s termination if the employer’s written policies provide for forfeiture of accrued vacation upon termination, and those policies are acknowledged in writing by the employee. Pete Gosar, chairman of the committee, said that the bill was a solution in search of a problem. The announcement comes a bit late however, as supporters of the referendum effort have only until this Saturday, May 18, to collect the 37,606 signatures necessary to get the measure on the 2014 ballot.[1]
