Biography
A lifelong resident of the Columbus area, Tyson has been involved in city government for years. From 1993 to 2006, Tyson served as a member of the Columbus Civil Service Commission. Since 2007, she has been a member of the city council, where she has been responsible for promoting several community initiatives. Tyson also has five children.[2]

2012
Tyson ran in the 2012 election for the U.S. House, representing Ohio's 3rd District. Tyson lost to Joyce Beatty in the March 6, 2012 primary.[3]
