Kelsch is the manager of external affairs for Cellular One and has professional experience in farming.
Kelsch earned her BS in business administration from the University of North Dakota. She and her husband, Thomas, have three children.[1]

Kelsch ran in the 2012 election for North Dakota Senate District 34. Kelsch was defeated by fellow incumbent Todd K. Porter and candidate Nathan P. Toman in the Republican primary on June 12. Lori Furaus and Sid Kadrmas ran unopposed in the Democratic primary. The general election took place on November 6, 2012.[2][3]

On November 4, 2008, Kelsch won election by finishing 1st out of 4 candidates for District 34 of the North Dakota House of Representatives.[4]

Controversies
Tax lien
In January 2012, it was revealed that Kelsch faced a $300,000 tax lien after failing to file returns for federal and state taxes. Kelsch explained that her husband, Tom Kelsch, had failed file the returns. After a series of family tragedies, Tom Kelsch was diagnosed with cancer. He was unable to work, but continued to handle the family finances. RaeAnn Kelsch has promised to resolve her tax obligations.[5]
