Biography
Hall attended Texas Christian University, Fort Worth, and the University of Texas, Austin. After earning his LL.B. from Southern Methodist University in 1951, he was admitted to the Texas Bar and went into private practice.[3]
On January 5, 2004, Hall switched party affiliation from Democratic to Republican.[4]
On December 25, 2012, at the age of 89, Hall became the oldest lawmaker ever to serve in the House of Representatives. The record was previously held by Charles Manley Stedman, a representative from North Carolina. Stedman died in 1930.[5]

Fiscal Cliff
Hall voted against the fiscal cliff compromise bill, which made permanent most of the Bush tax cuts originally passed in 2001 and 2003 while also raising tax rates on the highest income levels. Hall ran in the 2012 election for the U.S. House, representing Texas' 4th District. He defeated Lou Gigliotti and Steve Clark in the May 29, 2012, Republican primary. He defeated VaLinda Hathcox (D) and Thomas Griffing (L) in the November 6, 2012, general election.[10][11]
