Ramsey County Charter Amendments, 2 (November 2010)

Two Ramsey County Charter Amendment measures were on the November 2, 2010 ballot in Ramsey County.

The first amendment seeks to reduce the amount of signatures needed to get a referendum or initiative petition approved. The current requirement is 10 percent of residents who voted in the last presidential election, the amendment would reduce it to 7. The current number of signatures needed is 27,817 and the change would reduce it to 19,472 people.

The second amendment seeks to extend the time period to collect signatures, from the current period of 30 days to 45 days after an ordinance is passed.
