Pugh has been president/CEO of the Urban League of Greater Columbus (ULGC) since October 2002.[2] He served in the US Army, Medical Service Corps, and retired with the rank of lieutenant colonel.[2]

Pugh ran in the 2012 election for Georgia State Senate District 15. Pugh ran and lost against incumbent Ed Harbison in the Democratic primary on July 31, 2012. David Brown ran unopposed in the Republican primary. The general election took place on November 6, 2012. [1][3]
