SANTA FE, New Mexico: Current Democratic State Senator Tim Eichenberg (D) announced last month that he would not seek re-election in 2012.[1] Last week, Democratic Party leaders named a replacement for Eichenberg on the 2012 ticket -- Daniel Ivey-Soto.[2]

Ivey-Soto wil face Diane Synder (R) in the general election on November 6, 2012. Republicans will try to overcome a 28-14 Democratic advantage in the Senate. All 42 seats will be up for election.[2]

Eichenberg announced he would no longer run in order to care for ailing family members.[1]
