Revere School District Levy Measures, 2 (May 2011)

Two Revere School District Levy Measures were on the May 3, 2011 ballot in the Revere school district which is in Summit County.

The first measure was taken off the ballot, but it sought to renew the current school levy which is set at a rate of 4.64 mills for a period of five years in order to continue to help pay for emergency requirements as needed in the school district.

The second measure sought to implement an additional school levy which will be set at a rate of 4.83 mills for a period of ten years in order to help pay for emergency requirements as needed in the school district.[1]

The school board was forced to lay off 34 teachers but were hoping to be able to hire some back if these measures get approved. Board members noted that it was not an easy thing to do but there was just no money to pay the teachers.[3]
