Richard Alarcon was a 2012 Democratic candidate for District 39 of the California State Assembly.

He was a member of the California State Senate from 1999 to 2006.[1] Alarcon was a member of the Los Angeles City Council from 1993 to 1998.[1]

Alarcon ran in the 2012 election for California State Assembly District 39. He advanced past the blanket primary on June 5, 2012, defeating Ricardo Benitez (R), Margie Margarita Carranza (R), Omar Cuevas (R), and John Paul Lindblad (G). Alarcon was defeated by Raul Bocanegra (D) in the general election on November 6, 2012.[2][3]
