Douglas ran in the 2012 election for the U.S. Senate, representing Maryland.[2] Douglas was defeated by Dan Bongino in the Republican primary on April 3, 2012.[1]

Douglas obtained support from former Governor Robert L. Ehrlich, Jr.[3] and John Bolton, former U.S. ambassador to the United Nations.[4][5]
