Geist earned his AA in Design Technology from Pennsylvania State University in 1965. He was then a Kellogg Fellow at the Pennsylvania State University Public Affairs Leadership Program. He has worked as Senior Manager for EADS Corporation and as a Consulting Engineer.
Geist lost in the April 24, 2012 primary to John McGinnis.[1]
