Gunn is a realtor who opened his own practice, Gunn and Associates LLC, which he operated for the past 25 years. He served as the Vice Chairman for the Alamance County Area Chamber of Commerce where he chaired the Legislative Action Committee.
He earned his B.S. in Business Administration from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill. He and his wife, Gayle, have two sons.[1]
