Rick Allen was a 2012 Republican candidate seeking election to the U.S. House representing the 2nd Congressional District of Georgia. Allen was defeated by John House in the Republican runoff primary on August 21, 2012.[1]

Allen was born in Columbus, Georgia.[2]

Career

Allen and his father decided to start Vita-Rx Corporation in Columbus, Georgia in 1978 as a Pharmaceutical Wholesaler to sell Generic Drugs and Vitamins.[2] Allen has been President and the general manager of the company since that time.[2]

Allen ran in the 2012 election for the U.S. House, representing Georgia's 2nd District. Allen sought the nomination on the Republican ticket. [4] Candidates wishing to run were required to file by the signature filing deadline of May 25, 2012. The primary elections were held on July 31, 2012. He and John House won the primary and advanced to the primary run-off.[5] Allen was defeated by John House in the Republican runoff primary on August 21, 2012.[6]
