A Riviera Beach Charter Repeal Question was on the March 8, 2011 ballot in the city of Riviera Beach, which is in Palm Beach County.

This measure was approved

  • YES 2,950 (59.27%)Approveda
  • NO 2,027 (40.73%)[1]

This measure sought to repeal a Riviera Beach charter amendment which was approved by voters in November 2010. The proposed repeal would undo the November vote which blocked the Rybovich company from building at the marina. The council decided to put this on the ballot because they believed voters thought that voting 'yes' meant they were in favor of the planned yacht facility when it actually meant they did not want it. City officials had interpreted the new language to mean that anything on the Marina that is not operated by the city is not allowed. But those who pushed for the November measure noted that the council could just have asked to clarify the language through a ballot measure rather than totally undoing the measure.[2]

The Palm Beach Post had stated that they were in favor of this measure, they wanted to see the November measure repealed. They noted that the vague language as well as the fact that the city would have to own the entire marina as harmful to the city and would make it harder to attract private businesses. It was also noted that the main purpose behind the previous no vote was to block Rybovich from building a mega yacht facility, but now that they were no longer interested in building at the marina the city should not need to have control over it.[3]
