Rob Oates was a 2012 Libertarian candidate who sought election to the U.S. House representing the 1st Congressional District of Idaho.

Oats lost to incumbent Raul Labrador (R) on November 6, 2012.[1]

  • Army Cobra helicopter weapons test pilot at the Yuma Proving Ground in Arizona

Oates has also worked in the satellite industry and developed database software for business applications on the Internet.[2]

Oates ran in the 2012 election for the U.S. House, representing Idaho's 1st District. Oates won the nomination on the Libertarian ticket. He faced Jimmy Farris (D), incumbent Raul Labrador (R), and Pro-Life (I) in the general election on November 6, 2012, and was defeated by incumbent Raul Labrador (R).[3]

Oates has been married for the past 28 years to his wife, Debbie, and is the father of three grown children and one grandchild.[2]
