Robert Hartwell has been a Democratic member of the Vermont Senate since 2007, representing Bennington County.

Professional experience

Hartwell has worked as an attorney. He has also served as acting judge for the Windsor Superior Court. He was a realtor for Wells Real Estate and also on the labor counsel for American Can Company.

Political experience

Hartwell served on Dorset Selectboard from 2001 to 2004. He was a candidate for the Vermont State House of Representatives in 2004. He joined the senate in 2007 and has served in that position since.
