Prior to entering state employment as an auditor for the Department of Labor and Employment, Jaros used his many academic credentials to gain experience in the private sector. He has worked as an auditor, controller, general counsel, and chief financial officer.

As the controller is a permanent employee of the state, Jaros is not subject to periodic reappointment.
