- 1978: Wichita State University, Bachelor’s of Arts Degree, with triples majors in Psychology, Sociology and Minority Studies
- 1981: Wichita State University, Masters of Arts Degree in Sociology
Career
Tillman has worked for King Music Company, Coleman, Cessna, Wesley Medical Center and Boeing Aircraft. He also served 6 years in the Kansas National Guard from 1966-1972.[3] Tillman owned and operated Dick’s Lounge and Tillman’s Family Restaurant, and worked for 2 years as a Special Education Assistant Teacher for the Holy Family Center.[3]

2012
Tillman ran in the 2012 election for the U.S. House, representing Kansas' 4th District. Tillman won the nomination on the Democratic ticket. The signature filing deadline for candidates wishing to run was June 11, 2012. The date was originally set for June 1, but a delay in the redistricting process caused the state to push back the filing deadline.[4]. The primary elections were held on August 7, 2012. Tillman defeated Esau Freeman in the Democratic primary on August 7, 2012. He was defeated by Mike Pompeo in the general election.[5] The general election took place on November 6, 2012.
