2012
Mansfield ran in the 2012 election for the U.S. House, representing Pennsylvania's 2nd District. He was unopposed in the April 24 Republican primary and lost to incumbent Rep. Chaka Fattah (D) in the general election on November 6, 2012.[3]
The Washington Post listed the House of Representatives elections in Pennsylvania in 2012 as one of the states that could determine whether Democrats would retake the House or Republicans would hold their majority in 2013.[4] Ohio tied with Pennsylvania for 9th on the list.[4]

2010
In 2010, Mansfield ran for governor of Pennsylvania as an Independent. He dropped out of the race, however, in June 2010.[5]
