Legislation
2011 Education Reform
Nonini has supported Idaho Superintendent of Public Instruction Tom Luna's K-12 education reform package. The first bill was sent to the governor on March 9, 2011. That bill will restrict collective bargaining rights for teachers to salaries and benefits only. Additionally, tenure would be phased out for new teachers and existing teachers without tenure. "Through this plan, we are going to attract and retain more quality teachers in Idaho by offering a two-year contract, increased pay and the opportunity to earn bonuses," Nonini said.[1]
