His sudden resignation brought controversy over the number and amount of pensions he will receive from the state. When he announced his retirement he was earning $107,400 as superintendent of the Hutsonville school district and $75,569 as a state lawmaker. With his new position he stays in the Teachers' Retirement System and with his jump in pay his pension will be at least $141,000 a year. In 2014 he will be able to collect a pension from his work in the legislature of approximately $24,000 a year.[2]
Eddy has served as School Superintendent of Crawford County, Principle/Teacher at Hutsonville High School, and Principle of Watseka High School.
He is a member of the Legislative Committee of the Illinois Association of School Administrators, Elks, and United Way of Wabash Valley Executive Board.[3]

Elections
2012
Eddy ran for re-election to the Illinois House of Representatives in 2012. Due to redistricting, Eddy was running in district 110. However, he withdrew from the race in early March before the primary.[4][5]
2010
Eddy won re-election to the 109th District seat against Democrat Tim Cyr. He ran unopposed in the Republican primary on February 2nd. The general election took place on November 2, 2010.[6]
