Chance was Chair of the Fayette County Republican Party from 1995 to 1996. In 2006 he was Administration Floor Leader. He joined the Georgia State Senate in 2005, and has served in that position since.
Chance has worked as a Political Advisor. He has also been District Director for United States Representative Mac Collins. He is currently a Public Relations Executive.
Chance earned his BBA in Marketing from Georgia State University's School of Business.

On November 4, 2008, Chance won re-election to the Georgia Senate from Georgia's 16th Senate district. Chance received 49,127 votes in the election, defeating Jerry Brilliant (D), who received 23,681 votes.[5] Chance raised $163,791 for his campaign in 2008; Brilliant raised $5,925.[6]

Chance and his wife, Cressida, have two children.
Awards
In March 2010, Chance received the Charles H. Barco Legislator of the Year Award from the Southeastern Legal Foundation. The SLF is a national constitutional public interest law firm and policy center. They advocate limited government, individual economic freedom, and free enterprise.[10]
