Romero served in the Utah State House of Representatives from 2004 to 2006.
Romero has worked as a banker in the past. He is currently an attorney. Romero earned his BS from the University of Utah in 1993. He went on to receive his JD from the University of Michigan Law School in 1996.
After redistricting thrust him into a district with fellow Democrat Pat Jones, Romero chose to run for election to the position of Mayor of Salt Lake County in 2012.[1]

Romero was re-elected to the 7th District Seat in 2010. He defeated Republican Eric Johnson in the general election on November 2, 2010.[2][3]

On November 7, 2006, Romero was elected to the 7th District Seat in the Utah State Senate, defeating opponents Bryce Jolley (R) and Jared Beck (C).[4]
