Roy J. Carter was a 2012 Democratic candidate for District 45 of the North Carolina State Senate.

Carter's professional experience includes working as a teacher at Andrews and Hendersonville High school, Madison High School, Wilkes Central High School, and North Wilkes High School. He earned his B.S. in Education and Science from East Tennessee State University in 1968 and has received certifications in Safety Education, Athletic Administration, and Agriculture.

Carter ran in the 2012 election for North Carolina State Senate District 45. He ran unopposed in the Democratic primary on May 8 and was defeated by incumbent Daniel Soucek (R) in the general election which took place on November 6, 2012.[1][2]
