Prior to his campaign, Starski was a software technician at Jackson National Life Insurance. He has bachelor's degrees from Michigan State University in Probability and Statistics, and Public Policy and Public Administration.[1]

Starski ran in the 2012 election for Michigan House of Representatives District 51. He was defeated by Steven Losey in the Democratic primary on August 7.[2][3]

Campaign issues
Starski cites the exodus of Michiganders from the state and inactivity from politicians as reasons for running. He says he would eliminate the tax on retirements and pensions, give tax breaks to businesses that hire recent graduates or layoffs, and push an amendment for a "hard minimum percentage" of the budget to go towards education.[1]
