On June 26, 2013, Governor Rick Snyder appointed Talberg to fill the vacancy on the Michigan Public Service Commission created by Orjiakor Isiogu's term expiring. Her six-year term began on July 3, 2013. Talberg's appointment is subject to the advice and consent of the Michigan Senate.
